We are a group of about 40 trained volunteers who work in pairs at the South Street centre picking up the phones and answering emails. We observe absolute confidentiality about calls and emails within Samaritans. We work very closely together in a team under a Director, we receive no government funding and are all unpaid. Isle of Wight Samaritans run a shop in Lugley Street, Newport. The shop is an important source of fundraising which is staffed entirely by volunteers.
